Theeran chinnamalai goundar

description:
He was born on april 17th 1756 in Melapalayam,near Erode,Tamilnadu.He was a Tamil freedom fighter.

He supported Tippusultan with 1000 strong army men which brought victories in Chitheswaram, Mazahavalli and Srirangapatna.

After the death of Tippu Sultan he continued his fight with British, whom he defeated in battles at Cauvery in 1801, Odanilai in 1802 and at Arachalur in 1804.

He also engaged in guerrilla warfare while he was stationed at Karumalai.

He was betrated by his cook and captured by the British, who hanged him on July 31, 1805.

The name Chinnamalai came when once he attacked Britsh soldiers and captured the Tax money and said to a soldier as "Sivan malai kum Senimalai naduvil oru Chinna malai parithukkondathaka poi un thalamaiku solai".
